One person has died after a shooting in Eastpointe early Friday.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot of Oakwood Manor Senior Living in the area of 9 Mile and Gratiot.

Police say residents contacted the dispatch center around 3:45 a.m., saying they heard multiple shots in the parking lot and saw a pickup truck on a rock.

Upon arrival, officers saw a 25-year-old Detroit man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced deceased.

The weapon was recovered with multiple casings in the area where the victim was found.

Eastpointe police say the "preliminary investigation suggests that this was not a random act." Officers are currently following up on several leads.
