Detroit police say one person is dead and another is in custody after a possible drunk driving accident on the city's west side.
The accident happened on Ewald Circle and Prairie near Livernois early Tuesday morning.
Police say the driver of a Dodge Charger hit a tree at a curve in the road. One of the passengers was killed. His mother identifies him as 27-year-old Jamal Lawrence Gouch.
We're told a total of three people were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Police say the other passenger was taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition. The driver, we're told, was taken into custody.
A family member of one of the victims who arrived at the scene said the three were drinking and on a "joy ride."
