A busy road was shut down for hours due to a deadly accident. It happened around midnight in Sterling Heights on 17 Mile between Mound and Ryan.
Police say an 18-year-old male driver crossed the center line in his Ford Explorer and struck a Kia Rio head-on. The 50-year-old driver of Kia, we're told, was pronounced dead on the scene. Her 35-year-old passenger was also injured, but is expected to be OK.
The 18-year-old is expected to recover from his injuries, too.
The crash remains under investigation.
The road was re-opened a short time ago.
