BLOOMFIELD TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) — Police say a 76-year-old man from Bloomfield Hills died Tuesday after his vehicle was involved in a crash with a dump truck.
The crash happened at 10:40 a.m. According to police, a Mercedes Benz was traveling southbound on Wabeek Drive West when it didn't yield to a Peterbilt Dump Truck that was traveling westbound on Long Lake Road.
The two vehicles collided, causing the dump truck to roll on its side and hit a telephone/electrical pole.
Both drivers were taken to a local hospital. The driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the dump truck, a 51-year-old man from Ortonville, was treated and then released.
Investigators say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors. The crash is still under investigation.
