Father and toddler son injured in dog attack on Detroit's west side

DETROIT (WXYZ) — A young child and his father were injured after a dog attack in northwest Detroit on Tuesday afternoon.

The Detroit Fire Department tells 7 Action News the boy, believed to be either 1 or 2 years old, was taken to Children's Hospital with dog bites to the neck and is in serious condition.

The 45-year-old father was also taken to Sinai Grace Hospital with bites and lacerations to the arm.

According to the fire department, the dog is believed to be a owned by a neighbor and apparently got out of its chain. The dog breed is not known.

Animal control is on the way out.
