DETROIT (WXYZ) — A 12-year-old boy was critically injured and a female driver was seriously injured when the car they were in slammed into the back of a semi on I-94 in Detroit this morning.
According to police, it happened on eastbound I-94 at Schaefer around 4 a.m.
MSP said after investigating, they determined a semi truck got onto the highway from Schaefer and as it was getting up to speed, a Chrysler 300 crashed into the back of the trailer.
Police say the female driver suffered serious injuries to her legs and the 12-year-old boy suffered critical injuries.
Two lanes of the highway are closed. It's not clear when the lanes will reopen.
