PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 13-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the neck in Pontiac on Sunday.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said a 20-year-old man, the cousin of the 13-year-old victim, had been playing with a handgun and the firearm discharged.
Deputies located the firearm lying outdoors in the backyard of the residence, located in the 90 block of Cadillac. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and the spent round is lodged in the victim's chest. He is in stable condition, officials say.
The 20-year-old suspect was taken into custody and later lodged at the Oakland County Jail, pending the issuance of criminal charges.
