STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 13-year-old from Hamtramck has been arrested in connection with shooting threats to Sterling Heights schools.
The threats reportedly targeted multiple schools.
Police say the threats were made on Instagram and the shootings were to occur on May 28. The reports were not a valid threat.
Sterling Heights PD has received another complaint of a copy-cat Instagram school threat toward Davis Junior High School. Police are investigating that threat, adding that it appears to be unsubstantiated at this time.
"Anyone making these therats is committing an act of terrorism, which is a felony punishable up to 20 years in prison," the police department said.
Anyone who has information on the incident is asked to contact Sterling Heights PD at 586-446-2825.
