Caesar wasn't having much luck finding a forever home. But the beautiful senior lab mix was a favorite at I Heart Dogs Rescue and Animal Haven where volunteers never gave up hope that one day someone would choose Caesar to be a part of their family.

Then, a few weeks ago, Caesar made a brief appearance on 7 Action News when we were covering the story of a family finding their long lost dog at the shelter.

Caesar was only on air for about 15 seconds, but that's all it took for Joyce Gasser's sister to see that he'd be perfect for Joyce who was in Florida at the time.

Joyce later saw Caesar and knew he was meant to be a part of her life as much as she was meant to be a part of his.

Caesar spent a total of about six years in shelters. The last rescue group that cared for him thought he had found his forever home with someone, but a job change had them returning Caesar back to the shelter.

We are happy to report that Joyce picked up Caesar at I Heart Dogs Rescue on Friday. And we're told Caesar is settling in nicely into his new home with his new mom!
