PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 16-year-old Pontiac resident is in stable condition in the hospital after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the street.
The incident happened Monday just before 6:30 a.m.
According to police, the teen was crossing Walton Boulevard but not at a designated crosswalk. A 40-year-old Pontiac resident was driving a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer east on Walton, approaching Perry Street when the driver struck the teen, who was in the center turn lane. The driver did stop after hitting the teen.
The teen was then taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital. There were no injuries to the driver or the other occupants in the SUV.
Police say alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
