ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 17-year-old from Macomb Township was critically injured while attending a small gathering at a home in Roseville Saturday evening.

The shooting happened around 8:26 p.m. in the 17000 block of Ivanhoe.

Seven people were gathered at the home when two of the guests began showing each other their illegal handguns, police say. A 20-year-old from Warren unintentionally discharged the handgun, striking the 17-year-old victim in the head, police say.

Witnesses told police the shooting was accidental, and all people who were present at the home during the shooting are cooperating with the investigation. The weapons involved have been recovered, police say.
