18-month old shot during targeted freeway shooting on northbound I-75

TAYLOR, Mich. (WXYZ) — An 18-month old is recovering from non-fatal injuries after a freeway shooting on northbound I-75.

On June 21 around 3:30 p.m., Lincoln Park police responded to a non-fatal shooting on the northbound I-75 ramp the Outer Drive. Officer requested MSP take over the investigation.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect pulled along side the victim's car and shot at it numerous times, according to MSP.

Troopers say an 18-month old child was struck by the gunfire. The child was taken to a local hospital with non-fatal injuries.

MSP says this is not a random incident. The investigation is ongoing.
