An 18-year-old who was on drugs, then crashed, killing an innocent man from Chesterfield Township learned his sentence in court Wednesday. Jared Fox was sentenced to serve between five and fifteen years in prison.

The man who lost his life is Michael Beers. He was driving on his way to work at the Macomb County Department of Roads on a morning in December last year. He never made it.

It was on Chesterfield Road near 24 Mile that Chesterfield Township Police say a driver high on morphine and marijuana slammed into him.

People who loved Michael Beers spoke at the sentencing hearing. His wife Nicole Beers spoke about the pain of knowing their two young children will grow up without him.

“The question that really remained was, how was I going to raise two kids alone without their loving amazing father? How am I going to run a business that we literally bought just two days prior?” said Nicole.
