19-year-old charged in shooting of Detroit cops back in court

The 19-year-old charged in the shootings of two Detroit police officers will be back in court today for his probable cause hearing.

Juwan Alexander Plummer was released on bond last week. 

Plummer has been arraigned on two counts each of Intentional Discharge of a Firearm in a Building Causing Serious Injury; Intentional Discharge of a Firearm in a Building Causing Injury, Felonious Assault. He has also been charged with four counts of Felony Firearm.

The incident took place on April 16at 11:45 p.m.

The officers were responding to a report of attempted break-ins at a home across the street, and Chief James Craig said the officers decided to check out Plummer's home as well where the shooting eventually occurred.

A woman and her two sons, a 19-year-old and 14-year-old were detained by police. The 19-year-old reportedly opened fire fearing a burglary.

Craig said the teen who fired the shot is remorseful for what happened.
