MONROE COUNTY (WXYZ) — Two men have been charged in the Sunday shooting of a 16-year veteran of the Monroe Police Department.

Kordney McDonald, of Ypsilanti, and Koby Falls, of Monroe face several charges following an alleged carjacking on Sunday, which led to the shooting of Monroe City Police Corporal Renae Peterson, who is currently in critical but stable condition at a Toledo hospital.
Corporal Renae Peterson was responding to a carjacking in the area of 2nd and Winchester, according to police. The responding officers spoke with the victim, who said two men struck her over the head with a handgun and left the scene in her blue sedan. Officers then found the stolen vehicle at North Dixie Highway and Ternes Drive.
Peterson got out of the vehicle to approach the stolen vehicle and that's when she was shot. Police say she was struck multiple times.
