2 people dead, 1 in critical condition after vehicle slams into tree in Detroit

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Two people have died following a crash involving the vehicle hitting a tree on Detroit's west side.

On April 29 around 11 p.m., a 2003 Chevy Tahoe was traveling north on St. Mary’s when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree, according to police.

There were five people inside the vehicle. All of the victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. Two of the victims, one man and woman, died.

A third victim was listed in critical condition and the remaining two were last reported as temp serious.

Right now, it is unknown who was driving at this time, as well as the victims' ages.

Police say the circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated, but believe speed may have played a factor.
