CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — Two suspects have been arrested in the deadly shooting of two women outside an apartment complex in Clinton Township.

The shooting happened around 6:35 p.m. Friday at the Knottingham Apartments on Wellington Crescent, just east of Gratiot.

The two victims were found by police lying outside their vehicle. It appeared that they had been unloading groceries at the time of the shooting.

Police uncovered that two suspects who had been sitting in a car across the parking lot opened fire on the women. A person in the area witnessed the shooting and alerted police with a description of the suspect's vehicle.

The car was later spotted by Macomb County Sheriff's deputies at 16 Mile Road and Harper. There was an attempt to stop the vehicle, which turned into a police pursuit.

When the suspects got to the area of 8 Mile Road and Van Dyke, their vehicle lost control and crashed into a cement block. They were both taken to a local hospital for treatment and placed under police custody.

Police add that one of the suspect's shot himself in the leg. Police haven't yet uncovered a motive for this shooting.
