DETROIT (WXYZ) — Officials are investigating after a 2-year-old girl was bitten by an unknown dog, resulting in a shooting.
DFD Deputy Commissioner Dave Fornell said the incident occurred Monday in the 10700 block of Wayburn.
Officials say the child was bitten by the dog, which was not the family's dog. The father reportedly shot the dog with a firearm. The dog died from the shooting and the 2-year-old was shot in the wrist, authorities say.
The father then brought the girl into the firehouse on 10800 Whittier. Firefighters started treating her and she was taken to St. John's Hospital, where she is in stable condition.
