2020 is on the way out but its no surprise it's not leaving quietly. We have not one but TWO storms in the forecast this week and they won't be easy to forecast, which is also very 2020. These storms will be complicated because of their precipitation types including everything from rain to sleet.
Storm #1 - Wednesday
Colder air returns Monday and Tuesday with highs struggling to reach the 30s. While this cold air is in place, a storm will approach Wednesday morning and there’s a concern surface temps will not warm "quick enough" before the moisture arrives. In other words, the temps above ground may be warmer than the temps at the surface. This is a recipe for a wintry mix with freezing rain & sleet as the dominate precipitation type.
Storm #2 - Thursday Night & Friday
This storm arrives at the end of 2020 and kicks off 2021. This one is identical to the first storm but it has more moisture to work with and is larger.
Both storms have freezing rain concerns but it’s too early to tell if it will be the main threat. We'll keep you updated.
