MONROE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — Three children and one adult have been hospitalized after a train versus car crash in Monroe County Thursday morning.

Around 7:20 a.m., Monroe Post troopers responded to a vehicle hit by a train near the intersection of US 24 and Albain Road in Monroe Township.

A red pick-up truck with one one adult driver and three minor passengers was hit by a CSX train while crossing the tracks. The train stopped near the scene, troopers say.

The occupants of the truck were extricated from the vehicle by officers and firemen. They were then transported to a Toledo area hospital by Monroe County Ambulance.

Troopers say two juveniles are in critical condition. One juvenile is in serious but stable condition, and the driver is in stable condition. No one aboard the train was injured.

CSX investigators are assisting troopers at the scene. The crash occurred on a private drive crossing over the railroad tracks south of Albain Rd.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
