INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — Michigan State Police are investigating a serious traffic crash that happened overnight on I-75 at Baldwin.
Around 3:10 a.m. Sunday, troopers responded to northbound I-75 Freeway near Baldwin Road in Independence Township.
A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a passenger car was northbound on I-75 at a high rate of speed, according to police. The driver rear-ended a second car also traveling northbound. Police say the at-fault vehicle came to rest in the center median, while the second vehicle rolled over in the left lane.
EMS took all three occupants to the hospital for serious injuries.
The freeway was closed for investigation in the early morning hours but has since reopened.
The investigation is ongoing.
