DETROIT (WXYZ) — A 3-year-old girl died Friday afternoon after a fire at a 4-unit apartment building on Detroit's west side Thursday morning.
The 3-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest and was taken to the hospital, but died on Friday.
Four other children, ages 10, 9, 6 and 5 were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
It happened on Otsego Avenue near Petoskey. Crews on scene told 7 Action News reporter Jenn Schanz the call came in just after 7 a.m.
Crews on scene said the children were in the downstairs unit of the apartment. Upstairs, three adults were trapped and had to be rescued, but are okay.
The cause of the fire is believed to be an accident
