DETROIT (WXYZ) — The 36th District Court is warning the public of a phone scam where people pose as court employees.
The scammers call members of the public and ask for their social security numbers. The number displayed on the caller ID is 313-965-3842.
The court says that staff would never contact people by phone and demand social security numbers.
If you are contacted by a scammer requesting your SSN, the court says do not provide information or engage with the caller.
