(WXYZ) — There have been 44 drownings in the Great Lakes so far in 2019, according to statistics from the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project.
Twenty-two of the drownings were in Lake Michigan, GLSRP reports.
Overall, since 2010, there have been 784 Great Lakes drownings.
There were two drownings in Lake Superior, five in Lake Huron, 10 in Lake Erie and six in Lake Ontario.
