DETROIT (WXYZ) — Five children and one firefighter have been taken to the hospital after a fire in northwest Detroit.
The fire broke out on Pembroke Avenue, off of 8 Mile and Telegraph.
Officials say the firefighter was injured trying to gain entry to the home. CPR is being performed on at least one of the children,
A 4-year-old girl, a 3-year-old boy, two 2-year-old girls and a 4-month-old girl are all suffering from smoke inhalation.

Officials say two families live in the home and one mother and her boyfriend were home 9 a.m. Thursday morning. One of the moms left the children to walk her other kids to school.
The fire was contained to the area where it started in the bedroom.
Officials say three of the five children are in serious condition.
