5K Run & Walk to fight oral cancer to be held at Seaholm High School in Birmingham

The 5K walk and run for oral cancer awareness is set for Sunday at Seaholm High School in Birmingham.

Oral cancer is a disease that's estimated to kill roughly one person an hour.

Melinda Jansen, a stage 4 oral cancer survivor, was diagnosed with tongue cancer 31 years ago when she was 24.

She spoke about her struggle and her mission to raise awareness about the disease.

The event is the Run/Walk to Fight Oral Cancer on Aug. 5 at Seaholm High School in Birmingham. Registration is at 8 a.m. and the event is at 9 a.m.
