A fifth grader from Duke Ellington Conservatory of Music & Arts at Beckham Academy has won the 25th Annual Skillman Foundation Float Design Contest with her "Make Detroit Colorful" presentation.

The float will be featured in the 90th America's Thanksgiving Parade presented by Art Van.

The student, MyRee Scott, and her family will escort the float during the event.

"Make Detroit Colorful" features large, vibrant flowers and an artist.

“We are thrilled to support the creativity of local Detroit students and be a part of this great holiday tradition for 25 years,” said Tonya Allen, president & CEO of Skillman Foundation, in a statement. “The students worked very hard this year and the contest submissions were outstanding. We are excited to highlight Detroit’s talented youth and see MyRee’s inspiring design come down Woodward Avenue on Thanksgiving morning.”
