72-year-old Chesterfield Township woman shoots husband, calls 911

A 72-year-old Chesterfield Township woman was arrested Tuesday after calling 911 to report she shot her husband.

It happened Tuesday night on the 33000 block of Meldrum Street, near Jefferson Avenue and Sugarbush Road.

Police said Cheryl Archambault called 911 and told dispatchers she needed an ambulance because her husband was shot. When police arrived, they found her 71-year-old husband shot in the face and neck.

Detectives searched the home and found the handgun she allegedly used to injure her husband, police added.

Investigators believe a verbal argument occurred between the couple and the woman fired one shot. He is in stable condition.

Archambault is charged with assault with intent to murder, a life felony, and a weapons felony firearm, a 2-year felony. Her bond was set at $100,000.
