Just this past March, the 8 Mile bridge over northbound US-23 had to be torn down after a crash involving a truck carrying an oversize load.
Now, the Michigan Department of Transportation is announcing the bridge is expected to reopen three weeks ahead of schedule on Wednesday, June 8th.
Crews repaired the 8 Mile span using an expedited contracting process.
MDOT plans to seek reimbursement from the trucking company involved in the March crash for 100% of the cost of the bridge repairs.
