Man, 83, dies in single engine plane crash in Saginaw County

SAGINAW CO., Mich. (WXYZ) — An 83-year-old man is dead after his single engine plane crashed in Chesaning, a village in Saginaw County.

The crash occurred at 10:23 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29 in Showboat Park. According to the Saginaw County Sheriff's Office, witnesses in the area heard the engine cut out and saw the plane come straight down.

The single engine plane was being driven by William Charles Burns, 83, of Vernon, Michigan. The plane was registered to the Owosso Flying Club.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the crash. According to a release, with the government shutdown in place, the FAA is preparing a plan on "what they can/need to do" for the investigation.

No other people were on the plane.
