(WXYZ) — Michigan State Police helped track down an abducted 9-month-old baby early Monday.
At 1 a.m., Sycamore PD called MSP's Lansing operations asking for assistance in locating the suspect. Police say the man kidnapped the baby and took off, heading toward Pontiac.
Police say near 2 a.m., the car was followed and stopped in Washtenaw County. When the driver realized police cars were behind him, he reportedly ingested pills at an attempted suicide. He was taken into custody and taken to the hospital. His condition is not known at this time.
The suspect is also facing charges, but at this time the charges are unknown.
Police say the baby was checked out by EMS and was taken to a hospital for a well-being check. The baby is completely fine and was taken into protective custody, where it will stay until the family comes.
