A 5-year-old girl was found safe this morning after she was abducted by her non-custodial father during a home invasion in Romulus, according to police.
Police say she was found in the father's Lincoln Park home.
Buddy Roy Gill, 28, is accused of taking 5-year-old Mireyna Amor Russell-Gill from his ex's home in the 7200 block of Washington in Romulus around 4:30 a.m.
"He has no custody of the child, he did take the child without the mother's permission," Romulus Police Capt. Joshua Monte said.
Romulus police say officers from the Lincoln Park Police Department spotted the silver Jeep that the father was believed to be driving after the home invasion and conducted a traffic stop. It was then that they learned the girl was at his home.
"The mother was not at the residence at the time. A 13-year-old child at the residence was the one to call 911 to notify us," Monte added.
The father is now in custody, police say.
Investigators say the 5-year-old and her four other siblings were left home alone when Gill took the child. A 13-year-old living at the home called police.
"She's doing fine, she's doing great, she's in fine condition."
Both the girl's mother and father are now being interviewed by Romulus Police. The mother may also face charges for leaving her kids unsupervised. Child Protective Services is also investigating.
Police say the children are with relatives until CPS decides what to do with this case.
