(WXYZ) — A new hotel is coming to Detroit's Brush Park after the Roxbury Group announced an agreement with Marriott to open the first AC Hotel in the city.
According to the Roxbury Group, it's a $46 million plan to bring the 153-room AC Hotel will open next to the historic Bonstelle Theatre in late 2021.
“We are very excited to be bringing the AC Hotels brand to Detroit, and to be doing so in such grand fashion with the connection to the Bonstelle Theatre,” said David Di Rita, principal of the Roxbury Group. “We take a great deal of pride in pairing high-end hospitality with iconic historic properties, and we are honored to be restoring the beauty of the Bonstelle and seamlessly integrating it with the modern sensibility of AC Hotels.”
The AC Hotels brand is known for sophisticated and sleek guest rooms with public spaces. it's within walking distance of major destinations in the city along Woodward Ave.
Construction is expected to start this summer on the 4,000-square-foot, 10-story building with a glass "conservatory."
The project will also incorporate the restoration of the Bonstelle Theatre to the original 1903 Albert Kahn-designed exterior and the 1925 redesign of the interior.
