Man facing murder charges in ax killing

Posted

A man accused of killing his step-grandfather with an ax has been charged with first degree murder today.

The judge entered a not guilty plea on behalf of 26-year-old Jesse Gunderson.

Gunderson, from California, is accused of murdering 56-year-old Dan Dart - a retired ford worker, in his own driveway, using an ax.

They say it happened Saturday on the 4000 block of Chamberlain in Wayne.

Family members say it's unclear why Gunderson showed up at his step-grandfather's door here in Michigan recently. They tell 7 Action News it seemed like he was getting along with everyone well until he walked into the house this weekend saying, "I just killed Dan."

Relatives say Gunderson told them he doesn't remember the deadly attack.

Gunderson's probable cause hearing is scheduled for October 6 at 9 a.m.
