LANSING, Mich. (WXYZ) — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has reopened a consumer investigation into a Farmington Hills-based snow removal and landscaping business because of "disturbing new findings" from the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Michigan.

According to a release, the Nessel's office has received 150 complaints since 2010 regarding Titan Seasonal Services, which is owned and operated by John and Michele Church, of Livonia. Since 2016, the BBB has gotten at least 30 complaints about Titan Seasonal Services.

Some of the complaints include failure to complete services, non-payment of subcontractors and failure to timely refund customers for services not rendered.

In 2018, Nessel concluded a Consumer Protection Act investigation into John and Michele Church's businesses. They entered into an assurance agreement, which made it possible for consumers to access refunds through a claims process. Already, 27 consumers are set to receive refunds later in March. The claims process is now re-opening under Nessel, allowing additional former customers to file claims.

Other businesses owned by the John and Michele include: The Snow Guys, Greenkeepers Lawn and Landscape, Friendly Neighborhood Lawn Service, Lawn & Snow King, Northstar Snow Removal, Mike’s Best Snow Plowing, and BlueJay Outdoor Services.

“It is clear Mr. and Mrs. Church have a long-standing reputation of deceit and failing to deliver on the services consumers paid for,” Nessel said. “We urge any consumer who can document losses from doing business with Mr. and Mrs. Church and their businesses to file consumer complaints with our office.”

If you've been victimized by the any of these businesses, Nessel encourages you to file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office online here, or by phone at 877-765-8388.
