(WXYZ) — No more porch pirates snatching your packages or soaking wet purchases?
Your Amazon Prime packages can now be delivered safely inside your garage in 50 cities, including Detroit.
The retailer has partnered with Chamberlain Group, a global leader in access control solutions, to officially launch in-garage package delivery. The new service is made possible by Chamberlain's myQ-connected technology. Any customer with a myQ-connected garage door opener will be able to monitor and control their garage door from anywhere via the Amazon Key app.
“It’s that sinking feeling, when you know a package is supposed to be on your front porch and you realize it’s not, that is prompting homeowners to demand innovative delivery solutions,” said Jeff Meredith, CGI President and Chief Operating Officer. “The good news is, the connected home is helping provide secure alternative delivery destinations. And, as a self-contained extension of the home, the smart garage offers a safe and convenient option for package delivery.”
Currently, 72 percent of Americans who live in a house or townhome take security measures to avoid having a package stolen. Now, for the first time ever, Prime members will have the option to choose in-garage delivery when shopping on Amazon. Their Prime packages will be delivered safe and secure – no more worrying about theft or wet packages.
