Priscilla Slater, 38, was found unresponsive in a holding cell on Wednesday, a day after she was arrested in connection to a shooting.

Police said they also arrested 27-year-old Lewis Nichols for the shooting.

On Friday, there was a protest held outside the police department. Demonstrators and the mayor's wife of Harper Woods nearly came to blows after she appeared to rip up a protester's sign taking a stand against police.

According to the city, four civilian aides and two supervisors have been placed on leave while the investigation into her death continues.
