DETROIT (WXYZ) — American Coney Island's coney dog eating contest is returning once again with an even bigger prize for the winner this year – a weekend trip for two to Las Vegas.
The coney dog eating challenge will take place on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 5:45 p.m. at their restaurant in downtown Detroit.
It costs $10 to sign up, with proceeds benefiting the Detroit Police Benefit and Protective Association and the Detroit Firemen's Benevolent Fund. The Detroit police vs. Detroit Fire/EMT vs. Windsor Fire challenge will take place at 5:30 p.m. followed by the main event at 5:45 p.m.
The winner will get a coney championship belt, free meals at American for a year and a weekend trip for two to The D Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
