Former U.S. Marine and Flint native Amir Hekmati arrived home at Flint's Bishop International Airport on Thursday afternoon.

The arrival comes just five days after Hekmati, 32, was released from Iranian prison after nearly 4 1/2 years in a prisoner-swap deal.

When talking about his years in prison, he said "it wasn't good," but that his Marine training helped sustain him.

Convicted by an Iranian court of spying and sentenced to death in 2012, Hekmati was later retried and given a 10-year sentence on a lesser charge.
