She’s a high school teacher working tirelessly to make sure her lessons are meaningful and encouraging.

In just her third year of teaching, Ms. Molly Guckian has quickly become everyone’s favorite teacher at Summit Academy North High School.

She’s the teacher who’s in the classroom early and always stays late, the one place students can always go.

“High school can be a very rough place – you can have mean people, you can have a lot of work but it’s always great to know there’s a place you can go to get away from that and be with people that care for you,” Junior Evan Hawks said.

Hawks says Ms. Guckian has changed his life.

“I was homeschooled my whole life up until last year and she just made me feel like this was the place I needed to be,” he said.

Ms. Guckian’s goal is to create lessons that reach far outside the classroom.

“At the end of the day they’re not going to remember every single tiny little thing I teach them but they still remember that they have a voice and they should feel comfortable to speak and learn and grow after they leave here,” she said.

Which is exactly what Evan says she provides.

“Overall, I just feel safe that she’s going to be there for me, I know that if I have a problem academic or out of school that she’s going to be there and she’s a wonderful listener and I’m always just going to get the best advice,” he said.

Which is why these students, teachers and principal say she is definitely an All Star.

“I don’t even think about myself most days, I just think about how they’re doing and where I need them to go so it’s such a shock to me to earn this because I really am so hard on myself sometimes because I really want so much for them,” Ms. Guckian said.

Congratulations, Ms. Guckian!
