In an effort to make strides in improving the lives of those living with these illnesses, TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants and its Michigan Applebee’s restaurants will host a one-day, statewide charity challenge on Saturday, October 22 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in honor of Make A Difference Day.
Proceeds from the event benefiting Make-A-Wish Michigan, JDRF (formerly known as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
As part of the charity challenge, guests will be able to add a monetary donation to the charity, or charities, of their choice to their bill at each of the 66 TSFR Applebee’s restaurants. In exchange for a donation of at least $5, guests will receive a free dessert or appetizer of their choice from a select menu, as well as a special coupon that they can put toward their next Applebee’s visit. TSFR will also provide an additional $5,000 donation to the charity that raises the most, with the remaining charities receiving a matching donation up to $2,500 from.
Muscular dystrophy affects approximately 1 in every 3,500 to 6,000 male births each year in the United States, over 27,000 children are diagnosed annually with a life threatening illness, and as many as three million Americans have type 1 diabetes.
