Audi plans to roll out a new traffic information feature that will let drivers know when a signal is about to turn from red to green, the company announced Monday.
The auto brand is working with Traffic Technology Services to launch this vehicle to infrastructure service. The new feature in select 2017 models will give drivers a countdown from a red to a green light in certain smart cities starting this fall.
The vehicles reportedly tap into the traffic management system that monitors the lights and then relays the information to the driver via their heads up display.
The service will be included in an Audi Connect PRIME subscription, according to the auto brand.
Audi says in a news release that this feature is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving.
