Police have captured a bank robbery suspect in Dearborn. A customer actually helped investigators catch the suspect. They released her photo and identified her as China Wells,24, of Southfield.
Dearborn police say Wells held up a bank June 23rd in the area of Warren Avenue and Schaefer. Police say
the suspect gave the teller a handwritten note demanding money, and she implied she had a gun. As the teller was gathering the cash, the suspect ran. A bank customer quickly called police and provided a description of Wells That witness even followed the suspect until police arrived.
Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said “... Due to the citizen’s willingness to get involved we were able to apprehend this suspect before she was able to commit additional crimes.”
Wells has been charged with bank robbery and armed robbery. Her bond was set at $50,000 cash
Wells will be in court July 7th.
