The beloved Ypsilanti turkey -- known for blocking traffic -- had to be put down after getting struck by a vehicle on Monday.
The Humane Society of Huron Valley confirmed the news on its Facebook page today.
Nicknamed Whittaker after the road it frequented, the turkey reportedly had to be euthanized after sustaining multiple injuries in the accident.
"We thank you bringing joy and hope in our lives. You touched so many people while doing your own thing. For most of us, you brought kindness, courtesy, hope and laughter. Rest In Peace, Whitaker," one of the comments read on the Facebook post.
The wild turkey captured the hearts of many who lived nearby. Someone even started a Facebook group page to celebrate Whittaker and her antics.
