(WXYZ) — Oscar award-winning actor Ben Affleck is opening up about alcohol abuse and his family.

The 47-year-old actor sat down with ABC News' Diane Sawyer. The two took a visit to a high school in New York. It's similar to the one in his newest movie about a group of basketball players who need to believe in themselves and a struggling coach who needs faith to overcome addiction.

The part on addiction resonated especially with Affleck, as he said it hits close to home.
