SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) — Big Boy is launching a new fast-casual prototype restaurant in Southfield that is replacing the sit-down service with a counter menu and digital/mobile ordering.

According to the company, the concept restaurant is located on Telegraph Rd. just south of I-696, and will also include no tipping and no breakfast/salad bar, a staple of the Big Boy brand.

“Big Boy is an American Icon. And our guests have known and loved Big Boy for years. But, we needed to connect with a new generation whose eating habits are constantly evolving. So, we’ve created a restaurant that stays true to our roots, but has the experience that’s built for today’s diners.” Said David Crawford, CEO of Big Boy Restaurant Group.

The company said it will also serve as an ongoing test kitchen for new items.

It's focus will be on the busy lunchtime crowd and also designed to meet the needs of younger professionals and on-the-go busy families.
