Detroit's 'Big Three' automakers are reacting to the historic election of Donald Trump on Tuesday.
General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler released statements congratulating Trump and other elected officials on their victories.
"We agree with Mr. Trump that it is really important to unite the country," Ford said in a statement. "We look forward to working together to support economic growth and jobs.
Trump previously told supporters he would work to bring car production back to the U.S.
"Ford is moving all of their small car production to Mexico," Trump said. "When I'm president, I'll charge a 35 percent tax when they want to ship things back to the U.S."
General Motors and Fiat Chrysler said they would work with Trump to advance the U.S. manufacturing industry.
"GM looks forward to working with President-elect Donald J. Trump and the new Congress on policies that support a strong and competitive U.S. manufacturing base," GM said in a statement.
"FCA US looks forward to working with President-Elect Donald J. Trump and the new congress to strengthen American manufacturing and build a more secure future for our employees, customers and society," FCA officials said.
Voter Laurie Solomon said she doesn't believe Trump's campaign promises will affect the auto industry.
"I don't think it will affect it at all," Solomon said. "Every single thing he said is crazy. I don’t understand how he thinks he can control major corporations."
