Birmingham Groves High School was placed on lockdown following a police situation on Monday. The school was notified by Beverly Hills police that a "despondent individual" was on the baseball field and may have been armed.
The person cooperated with police and the situation was resolved.
The lockdown has been lifted.
The school released the following email to parents:
Currently Groves High School is in lockdown status. We are anticipating no delays of the school day, with students dismissing at the normal time.
Police may be on campus during this lockdown. During a lockdown, no one shall enter or exit the building.
We ask for your cooperation in not contacting the main office of the school, staff in the building, or other district offices. Our priority is to follow our safety and security procedures to keep the building safe for student and staff. Answering phone calls, texts and email cannot be a priority at this time.
Also, please do not go to the school campus. Traffic on the campus complicates our security procedures.
We will provide updates on the situation as we can, and we will notify you when the lockdown is lifted.
We understand the concerns raised by this situation, and we thank you for your patience and support.
