In certain neighborhoods in Detroit, you can see abandoned buildings, trash, graffiti and overgrown grass. A blight boot camp wants to help organizations clean it up.
"If you’re a student walking to school past abandoned houses, it tells you perhaps maybe my neighborhood isn’t cared for as much as another neighborhood. Eliminating blight, making it beautiful, reinforces to our young people that you do matter," says Jeff Jones, Bounce Back Detroit.
A blight boot camp, hosted by Impact Detroit Network, is offering 6 grants, up to $2,500 to help clean up blight in the city.
Blight elimination projects can apply here. The deadline to apply is Monday, June 20th.
Blight boot camp is set for June 25, 2016 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Wayne County Community College, downtown campus: 1001 Fort Street in Detroit.
