BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Bloomfield Township Police Department announced on Thursday that its K9, Kody, has finished chemotherapy six months after being diagnosed with Lymphoma.
In a Facebook post, the department said that Kody was diagnosed with Lymphoma in April 2019, and began chemo with the MSU oncology team immediately after being diagnosed.
According to the department, Kody's last dose of chemo came on Tuesday.
"While he will never be cured of this cancer, the MSU team and his handler are optimistic Kody will continue to work for some time to come," the post reads. "No words can express the gratitude Kody’s handler and the Bloomfield Township Police Department have for the hard work, dedication, and care the MSU Oncology team has for Kody."
Many of you fell in love with K9 Kody during our tweet along... What we haven’t shared until now is that Kody had been diagnosed with cancer. Although he was going through treatment, Kody continued to work every shift. Please see our official statement #K9Kody @msuvets pic.twitter.com/yBOLhTO9T9

Though we wish he didn’t have cancer, we’re honored to be the #veterinary healthcare team that provides Kody’s treatment. #KodyWill and #SpartansWill https://t.co/Fbx6hDZR7N
